Av en tillfällighet hittade vi Josef Mohrs grav när vi på 80-talet  Dagarna innan jul år 1818 gick folkskolläraren Franz Gruber och prästen Josef Mohr på bygatan i den lilla orten Oberndorf utanför Salzburg. Die Bronzeplastik steht vor der dortigen Stadtpfarrkirche und soll an die Uraufführung des Liedes in Oberndorf 1818 erinnern.
